Hello! Welcome to Meghan Hess Photography. I hope you feel at home and happy to be here…can you feel at home on a website? I hope so.
*I have been in business since 2014.
*My main photography focuses are:
*I shoot with a full frame Nikon and have multiple lenses in my arsenal
I am a wife and mother. My family is crazy and I wouldn’t have it any other way. My five year old son, Dean, comes up with the strangest games and ideas. He is very high energy and I think he might be a vampire because he never sleeps. My youngest is Lucy. She is sassy, sensitive and simply adorable. She is quick to forgive and loves giving hugs. Lucy likes to ride on top of Piper (collie/pit mix puppy) and yell, “Ho! Ho! Ho! Merry Christmas!” We also have Bruce (lab/pit mix) and he is basically an old man. He doesn’t like kids walking across his yard, he sleeps a lot and sports grey whiskers.
Ummm… because it’s amazing! But seriously, I started my journey as a photographer in 2013 when my son was born. We were poor (ahem…cheap!) and didn’t want to hire a newborn photographer. Big mistake! I thought I could easily recreate all those adorable photos you see on Pinterest. (Maybe someday I’ll share those hilarious and terrible photos of Dean.) I learned from those mistakes and kept on shooting. I used photography as a creative outlet and a way to “get out of the house”. My “career” as a newborn photographer was short lived when I realized it was not my thing. Kudos to all those amazing newborn togs out there–you’re amazing!
I evolved into a family photographer and I will always love my family clients. They were supportive and stuck with me during my trail stage of photography. I changed my editing style so many times-yikes!
Now, years later, I am confident in my work. I have a defined style and a love of telling progressive stories. I love the idea of meeting a graduating senior, years later shooting her wedding, and finally capturing her next big event into motherhood. Telling stories gives me butterflies and all the good feels.
Being a photographer has been such a blessing in my life. I couldn’t imagine doing anything else. Can you believe I was once a Political Science Major? Haha! What was I thinking?!
