I’ve always loved the words of William Shakespeare…
Music has a way to morph emotion, set a tone and tell a story. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t crank up the volume and listen to my favorite songs. In fact, dance parties are regular occurrences at my house.
When it comes to a bride and groom’s first dance, walking down the aisle or even the father-daughter dance, music will tell you more about the couple on the dance floor. If feelings made sounds, it would be music.
Deciding on a playlist for your wedding can really set the tone and story of your big day. Here’s my one piece of advice: Be true to you! Don’t pick songs that you think others will like, pick songs that make YOU happy! After all, it is your wedding day!
Brainstorming tips for your custom playlist:
I’ve complied a list of first dance songs that I’ve heard over the years as a wedding photographer. They are the songs that make it hard for me to do my job without a few tears trickling down my check.
First Dance Songs (these could also double as walking down the aisle songs!)
Bonus song: So Close- Jon McLaughlin (from the movie Enchanted)
Whichever songs you decide to play for the special moments of your wedding day, I hope you make time to slow down and enjoy as much as you can! It’s my job as your wedding day photographer to capture all the memories. It’s your job to remember how you felt! Music can play a big part in remembering a big life event. Still to this day, every time I hear A*Teens (which isn’t often, ha!) I am instantly transported to the classroom of the high school I taught English at in China.
I’d love to hear back from YOU! What are your favorite wedding day songs? Leave a comment!
